Pikes Peak Record Smashed by Loeb. Last month, June the 30th, Sebastian Loeb broke the record for the “unlimited Class” Pikes Peak Hill Climb with a time of 8m 13.878sec, in a highly modified 875bhp Peugeot 208. Loeb averaged speeds of over 87mph in the race, beating Rhys Millen the previous record holder by 1m 32.286sec.

The Peugeot 208 was specifically built for the Pikes Peak race. The only similarity to Loeb’s 208 and the factory car is that it may look like a Peugeot 208 on steroids but that was about it. Continue reading

The Pikes Peak Vs Sebastien Leob battle will commence on the 30th of June 2013! Sebastien Leob, probably the greatest Rally drivers of all time is going to take on Pikes Peak 12.4 mile run, which is now all tarmac, in a highly modified Peugeot 208. Here is a Teaser trailer of the Pug Beast!!

The 3.2-litre, twin-turbo V6 engine develops 875bhp to help power a car weighing 875 kilogrammes.

Peugeot Sport engineer Jean-Christophe Pallier said: “Your imagination is the only limit when you set out to design a car for Pikes Peak.

“We’ve shaved the car down to 875 kilogrammes and as a result we’ve achieved the magic and symbolic power to weight ratio of 1:1, one bhp for every one kg of weight.”

They will help the 208 go from 0-62mph in 1.8 seconds and from zero to a top speed of 150mph in just seven seconds. Continue reading
